Ariana Grande Wishes Liz Gillies a Happy Birthday on Instagram
Ariana Grande took to Instagram where she posted series of stories, in honor of her former Victorious co-star, Liz Gillies’ 30th birthday.
It’s no secret that Ariana Grande and former Victorious costar Liz Gillies have been long time best friends. In fact, the duo made headlines with their iconic halloween costumes recreating looks from the movie Best in Show. Grande recreated Jennifer Coolidge’s character in the film, while Gillies opted for Jane Lynch’s character, Christy Cummings.
On Wednesday, Grande took to Instagram Stories to celebrate Gillies’ 30th birthday. The pop star posted a selfie of the two dressed in fall apparel and referred to Gillies as “the most, beautiful, brilliant, talented, funniest person.” She continued her caption by referencing the duos 16 years of friendship and included a message that read, “I love you more than words can possibly express and I hope we can be best friends in every life.”
Although Grande and Gillies are often remembered for starring in the Nickelodeon television series Victorious, their friendship began far before. The two first met as children when they starred in the Broadway production of 13, in which Grande was cast as Charlotte and Gillies as Lucy. The duo was able to reunite years later when they both became a part of Victorious for four seasons from 2010 to 2013.
Over the years, the two have maintained a strong friendship and have often included each other in social media posts and projects. Grande had Gillies perform in the Mean Girls segment of her hit single, “Thank U, Next” music video. The two are seen in red velvet Mrs. Claus costumes depicting the winter talent show scene from the iconic 2004 film.
In 2015, Gillies spoke with People Magazine and shared the depth of her friendship with her Grammy-winning bestie. Gillies shared that she has “known her since what feels like the beginning of time” and how the two are “totally close.” In addition, she mentioned how Grande is “like blood” and a sister.
Gillies kicked off her birthday festivities three days prior to the big day with a gathering of her friends. She took to Instagram to share a series of photos from the celebration, however, Grande was not featured. Grande has been in London filming Wicked. The post was captioned “3 days ’till 30 🍸💀.”
