Shuttershock

Angelica Ross has revealed that co-star, Emma Roberts, made several transphobic remarks on set. Ross and Roberts worked closely together on the set of American Horror Story: 1984. The remarks and differences go back to 2019, when Roberts was accused of misgendering Ross on set.

Only a few days ago, Ross recalled on Instagram live other instances of misgendering on set. Ross and Roberts had been play fighting on set, when a crew member stated “OK, ladies, you know, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work” to which Roberts replied with “Don’t you mean lady?”

Following the comment, Ross felt as though she had to bite her tongue because if she did say or do something, she thought she would be the problem. The time it took between events to accusations, was due to the emotions and frustrations that Ross needed to work through before speaking out.

The allegations quickly went viral across social media with fans siding and showing support to Ross. Many were shocked to hear of what was going on behind the scenes and how that environment had been for Ross. In follow up posts, Ross asked her fans not to make jokes of violence towards Roberts, but rather focus on her being held accountable.

Furthermore Roberts privately reached out to Ross to apologise and recognise her actions. Ross claimed that she would leave things open for Roberts to comment publicly on her actions and desire to do better moving forward.

However, Ross did not stop there. She continued to call out other members of American Horror Story who treated Ross in a transphobic manner. Ross made claims that Ryan Murphy, an executive producer for American Horror Story, had stopped responding to Ross. Murphy’s lack of replies following their conversation, led Ross to miss out on work and potential roles.

The series of tweets, posted just recently, held Murphy and Roberts accountable for their actions and treatment towards Ross.

Neither Roberts nor Murphy have made any public comments yet as they continue to stay silent.
