Cher is set to release her first ever Christmas album on October 20.

Cher’s 13-track Christmas album will include iconic stars like Stevie Wonder and Cyndi Lauper. The album will be composed of covers of popular classic Christmas songs like, “Run Run Rudolph.”

Cher recruited many other artists to join her on her album and provide her with feedback. However, there was one artist that she really wanted on her album.

“[With] my voice, I can do a lot of this song, and I think I can do it well, but there’s some of the pieces on this, all I could think of was Stevie. I kept thinking, ‘I can never do it this good.’ After I wrestled with myself forever, I just thought, ‘I’m calling Stevie,'” she recalls.

Cher mentioned that she asked Stevie to listen to her cover and join her in performing some challenging parts that she claimed she couldn’t do. He agreed and even offered to play the harmonica, which excited Cher so much that she celebrated by running around her room and jumping on her bed.

Another exciting artist who will be featured on Cher’s album is Darleen Love. Cher explained that she was excited to have a “full-circle” moment with Darleen after she had covered Darleen’s songs at just 17 years old.

“Now, you have to know that I did background on that song when I was 17 years old,” Cher mentioned. “So I called Darlene and said, ‘Darlene, I’m going to do the song, and I’m not going to do it without you.’ And she said, ‘No problem!'”

Cher’s boyfriend, Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, surprised her by persuading their mutual friend, Tyga, a famous rapper, to sing a verse on her album.

Cher expressed that the whole experience of creating a Christmas album with so many featured artists, “was like herding cats,” but thought it was overall, well worth it.

Cher ultimately wants people to hear her Christmas music and be reminded of happy memories and incredible times.
