Talya Bendel and Esty Haas Debut a New Look of Modest Luxury at NYBFW
New York Bridal Fashion Week (NYBFW) is the finest week in wedding couture for any bride, tying the knot soon. Designers Talya Bendel and Esty Haas joined forces for their thrilling yet elegant debut NYFW show, Talya-Bendel Haas Bridal.
Sixteen luxurious looks descended the grand staircase at the Woolworth Building in downtown New York City. Of course, they were met with rave reviews from attendees. While the dresses express a modest look, the entire collection will take you on a tour. Go on a ride through fashion’s best moments with a hint of Baroque inspiration.
As described by Bendel, “Many expressive themes and places are suggested in the design elements, including the Yew Tree Ball at Versailles, circa 1745, and a 1920s Hamptons soiree. One or two brides later, and you’ll have arrived at the Teatro Di San Carlo in Italy in the 1800s for their opening night. Be it ballet or opera. This collection is meant to make you feel that you are in the presence of greatness.”
Whether you’re the bride looking for the 1920s Hampton style or the Italian ballet opening, you’re sure to find yourself in at least one of the dresses. Expect intricacies like Edwardian lace or subtle corseting. Talya Bendal-Haas Bridal emphasizes the romantic yet headstrong woman who can’t resist liveliness and complexity.
While a powerhouse duo on their debut show, both Bendel and Haas are fashion titans in their own right. Esty Haas, owner of The Haas Bridal atelier in Brooklyn, comes from a long line of seamstresses. This inspired her to design and sew at a young age. Over the last 15 years, Haas has built an international clientele, having dressed thousands of “Kallahs” (Yiddish for “Brides.)
Talya Bendel also brings 15 years of experience in fashion styling and costuming. Bendel worked in creative positions with Christian Siriano and styled for Netflix, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Roc Nation, and many more. Her work spans from commercials to album trailers.
The Brooklyn-based designers were excited to team up and were thrilled with the results of their hard work as the show turned out to be a success. Behind the designs is a village of people also working tirelessly to produce the showing of all showings. In this case, the village consisted of Birch Events (Production Design, Florals, and DJ), O.J. Williams (Casting), David Weisz (Fine Jewelry), Yocheved Gross, Cami Esses, and the Hair and Blush team (Hair and Makeup), Nina Shoes (shoes) The Knockturnal (Show Consulting) and TeddMed Inc. (IV Drips).
Talya Bendal-Haas Bridal is now available by appointment only at the Haas Atelier in Brooklyn, NY, ranging from $5,000 to $9,000. For the full rundown, check out Bendel-Haas Bridal’s website.
