David Holmes, the man behind Harry Potter’s stunts, faced a life-changing accident on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

According to Deadline, during the filming, David Holmes was left paralyzed from the chest down. Due to an explosion on set, Holmes was thrown down with a debilitating spinal injury that completely changed his life. Moreover, this story of resilience will unfold in the HBO Original documentary, David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived. Therefore the film portrays the incredible story of a real-life hero.

In addition, HBO revealed that it is collaborating with SKY and Daniel Radcliffe. The actor is taking the role of executive producer, along with Dan Hartley directing this film.

The film’s press release stated that David Holmes wasn’t just another stuntman. The documentary is a coming-of-age film that begins with Holmes’ teenage gymnastics days in Essex, England. Moreover, the documentary features a deep dive into Holmes’s life, with candid footage spanning over the last decade. Importantly, it includes “behind-the-scenes material from Holmes’ stunt work and scenes of his current life.”

Following HBO‘s press release, Holmes shared on his Instagram, revealing that this documentary was “four years’ hard work.” Furthermore, he called his time in the franchise “the best job in the world.”

“I am only able to live because of the united love and support that I am fortunate enough to have had, Holmes stated. “And it is thanks to this love and support that I am able to share my journey with you all.” In a past interview with the Daily Mirror, Radcliffe also talked about his friendship with Holmes.

“I’ve got a relationship that goes back many, many years with Dave,” he stated. “And I would hate for people to just see me and Dave and go, ‘Oh, there’s Daniel Radcliffe with a person in a wheelchair.” Additionally, the actor stated that Holmes meant a lot to him, and called him “an incredibly important person.”

David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived premieres on HBO at 9 p.m. on November 15.
