JoJo Siwa Describes Life With Dyslexia on New Podcast
On her new podcast, JoJo Siwa NOW, the Nickelodeon alumni describes how she doesn’t see herself as different by having dyslexia. In fact, she revealed that if she can still read and write, it’s not hard to deal with.
Siwa opened up about how her learning disability has affected her day-to-day life. She explains that she is only a little bit dyslexic when it comes to certain words and letters. For letters, she sometimes gets mixed up if they are similar. She claims it isn’t too bad since she says she can still read and write, it’s just something she deals with.

“I didn't understand at the time what a big deal that was. I didn't understand why that was scary. Of course there was a lot of positivity and love and acceptance but then there was a lot of negativity, and I did lose a lot. I… pic.twitter.com/gE45QjbcuM
The TikTok star gives specific examples of how it does affect her everyday life. For example, when Siwa writes birthday cards she will mix up the lettering in the phrase “happy birthday.” Either she will mix in capital letters or get the letters “b” and “d” confused on which way they should go. Although she is wary of writing since it might take her a little more time, it doesn’t affect her as much. While reading, she tends to mix up words that are similarly pronounced or have similar spelling. Her mind will perceive it as one word, while it is another.
Siwa has been open about describing other events going on in her life. In June, she revealed that she is part of the LGBTQ+ community. She mentioned how she felt that the community was very welcoming and felt like she was safe to do so. Even if people in real life didn’t support her, she knew that there would be people online who would. She believed that it would always be easier to come out online compared to in person.

Then, Siwa shares how she feels like she has finally found her place on social media. The former Dance Moms star describes social media as being her safe space when it comes to communicating with people. Since she has been open with various personal topics, she feels as if she can help other people feel more comfortable and confident with themselves. She is learning how to navigate life as other people watch her.
Nothing is stopping JoJo Siwa as she finds her place in the media projecting her voice and hoping that she can make a difference in society and bring everyone together.
