Emmy Award winner, Jimmy Kimmel, returns to the upcoming 2024 Oscars stage to host the Academy Awards.

Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is over, awards seasons are back, and the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host returns as a three-time Oscar presenter.

Kimmel, who previously hosted in 2017, 2018, and 2023, now joins Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon as a four-time host of the awards. Only five-time host Johnny Carson, nine-time host Billy Crystal, and eleven-time host Bob Hope stand ahead.

The Emmy nominee, Molly McNearney, is also back for the second consecutive year as an executive producer.

“I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times,” revealed Jimmy Kimmel. McNearney also commented that she’s “especially honored to be part of the Oscars team this year.”

“We are thrilled about Jimmy returning to host and Molly returning as executive producer for the Oscars,” added Academy President and Academy CEO Bill Kramer. “They share our love of movies and our commitment to producing a dynamic and entertaining show for our global audience. We are deeply grateful to Jimmy, Molly, and their teams for their incredible creativity and partnership and for going on this ride with us again.”

“After his triumphant return to the Oscars stage last year, we are honored to have Jimmy back to guide us through one of the most beloved celebrations in entertainment,” commented Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu, and Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals. “He is such a valuable member of our Disney family, and we could not be more appreciative of him and his entire team.”

The 2023 Oscars shattered records with a whopping 18.8 million viewers on average, and the ratings are 13% higher than before.

This year’s awards feature nominees like Warner Bros’ blockbuster Barbie and Universal Pictures’ epic Oppenheimer; Barbenheimer took this summer over theaters and pop culture. Other nominees include American Fiction, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, and Poor Things.

The 96th Oscars are set to be held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
