The Spengler Family returns to where it all started—the iconic New York City firehouse to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. The plot ties to the original 1984 film. Directed by the late Ivan Reitman.
Afterlife grossed $204 million at the box office in a strange film year over the pandemic and received mixed reviews. It was the first Ghostbusters film since the 2016 remake, directed by Paul Feig.
Frozen Empire will have a new director, Gil Kenan, who also helped write the script with Jason Reitman, the director of Afterlife. The film will be released only in theaters on March 22.
