Sneak Peek at Tyla’s ‘Truth or Dare’ Music Video
Budding South African sensation Tyla released a music video teaser for her new single “Truth or Dare.” The track will appear on her self-titled LP TYLA.
On July 28, Johannesburg-based Tyla Seethal made a big splash with her hit single “Water.” It skyrocketed her to U.S. fame and earned her an opener spot on the European leg of Chris Brown’s tour back in the spring. The song’s choreography also sparked a dance trend on social media. According to Genius, “Water” is the lead single off of her upcoming debut album TYLA, which also features “Butterflies,” “On and On,” and “Truth or Dare.”
With the release of TYLA approaching, the Afro-R&B artist teased the visuals for the “Truth or Dare” music video, which comes out on February 2. In an interview with Zane Lowe on New Music Daily, she attributed “Truth or Dare” and her debut album to years spent refining her craft.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, Tyla scripts her storyboards, writes songs based on personal experiences, and realizes the importance of teamwork. “Obviously, I enjoy doing things by myself. But I always find that I enjoy collaborating with people. I enjoy those sessions more. It is more creative,” she stated.
In the teaser, Tyla picks up a payphone and recites the song’s lyrics to someone on the other line. According to Genius, she reminds an ex of how badly he treated her in the past. She “dares” him to forget about how he used to act. “Did you say you’re on your way? Why now? When you just went MIA. Message received, oh, now you want me back?”
This track boasts the same Afro-R&B fusion as her other releases. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the “Water” singer stated, “I just love mixing R&B with and pop with African production. That’s my favorite type of music.” Her stylistic blends are becoming a signature in her discography and can only be classified as sonically beautiful.
