Anne Hathaway, Jake Gyllenhaal, Cailee Spaeny, and Charles Melton are all in talks to join the season 2 cast of Beef.

After months of speculation about whether we would be getting another season of one of the most successful series of 2023, creator Lee Sung Jin’s Beef, we are met with exciting news about season 2 being in the works. Not only is season 2 enough to look forward to, but there are also four A-list actors in the talks to join the upcoming season’s cast.

This is truly an exciting moment for fans. Many believed the series may have ended after season one. So many were not expecting another season as it was considered a limited series.

Season 2 is set to follow an entirely new cast and storyline revolving around two feuding couples, Melton and Spaeny as one couple and Hathaway and Gyllenhaal as the other. This means we probably won’t see Steven Yeun and Ali Wong as Amy and Danny on our screens again for the second season, at least right now.

The first season follows Yeun and Wong’s characters after they get into a road rage incident, which escalates further each day into more chaos as they feud and constantly find new ways to get back at each other, so it will be interesting to see what the new season will entail and how a new version of the road rage incident will be created into something different.

Beef has been dominating awards shows these last couple of months, earning its deserved credit for the incredible talents involved in making the show. The show has won an astounding number of awards, including eight Primetime Emmy Awards out of the 13 nominated for, including wins from lead actors Wong and Yeun for their performances and categories for directing, casting, picture editing, writing, and more.

No official deals are set in place yet, but this news has been in circulation and could already begin production this summer or fall by Netflix and A24 production.

Hathaway is among the first names to be confirmed in talks of the next season. She has been in many popular films, including The Devil Wears Prada, The Princess Diaries, Ocean’s 8, Les Misérables, and other standout roles. In addition, she has won 40 awards and been nominated for 101, including an Academy Award, Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in Les Misérables, and even a Primetime Emmy award for Best Voiceover Performance in The Simpsons.

Jake Gyllenhaal will be reuniting with Anne Hathaway as they have worked on multiple films, including Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and Love & Other Drugs in 2010, where they were in a romantic relationship. Some of Jake Gyllenhaal’s other best-known roles include Donnie Darko and Prisoners, and he has received many nominations, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (Brokeback Mountain) and two Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor.

The next actors to join the season are Spaeny and Melton. Spaeny portrayed Priscilla Presley in the 2023 biopic Priscilla and was nominated for a Golden Globe Best Leading Actress Drama award. Melton, who started his career in CW’s Riverdale, had his first big breakout role in May December, one of the most memorable films of 2023, which earned four Golden Globe nominations and one Academy Award nomination.

This is exciting news for fans, so while we wait for more news of a release date, season one of Beef is available to stream on Netflix.
