Chlöe is releasing her new single, “FYS,” on Friday, March 1.

Chlöe announced on February 28 that her new single titled “F*** Your Status” (“FYS”) will be dropping on March 1. The cover art shows the songstress and producer lying on the beach in a bikini and cropped tank top.

The Grammy nominee first teased the song on February 27 on X and Instagram, posting a clip of presumably the song’s intro. She sings “love me” repeatedly over dark synths and layered vocals that seem to build up to a beat drop. In the caption, she asked her fans, “what do you think it [“FYS”] means? guess right and i’ll drop.”

On February 28, Chlöe went live on Instagram to give fans a snippet of the song. The lyrics from the snippet went as follows: “F*** your status; it don’t matter / Money, cars, and the diamonds / Don’t phase me, I been had it / F*** your status, I just wanna love you baby / What you wanna do?”.

“F*** Your Status” (“FYS”) marks Chlöe’s first release since her solo debut album In Pieces was released on March 31, 2023. She began curating the album when her sister, Halle Bailey, was filming the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

“My sister went to London to film her movie for seven or eight months, and it was so hard being without her. That is when I started creating my project. I found my confidence — like, ‘OK, you can do this now.’ I always have my sister’s support, and she will always have mine, no matter what we do together or individually,” she told Billboard. The pair form the R&B duo Chloe x Halle and have been nominated for five Grammys.

Chlöe has also resumed acting, which she has done since childhood. Her first role was portraying the younger version of mentor Beyoncé’s character, Lilly, in The Fighting Temptations. In 2023, she starred in a recurring role in Amazon Prime’s Swarm, starring Dominique Fishback and co-directed and produced by Donald Glover. The year prior, she starred in Praise This, where she displayed her acting and singing prowess.

Fans can pre-add “F*** Your Status” (“FYS”) on Spotify and Apple Music.
