Dakota Johnson Reflects on Madame Web Fail, Fans Are Disappointed
Sony’s Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson as the protagonist along with Sydney Sweeney, Isabella Merced, and Celest O’Connor is officially the biggest comic book film flop.
Despite the enticing trailer, fans were not excited after watching the film. With only a 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 26% score on Metacritic, unfortunately, it fell flat.

Casandra Webb, portrayed by Johnson in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, is a paramedic who, following a near-death experience, gains the ability to foresee the future. Her newfound gift leads her to encounter three young girls (Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor) whom an evil traveler is chasing.
Johnson also gave an interview to Bustle, where she asserted “Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has.” The publication then asked her what the reason behind her reaction was.
Moreover, she remarked, “It was definitely an experience for me to make that movie. I had never done anything like it before. I probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now.”

Additionally, in an interview with L’OFFICIEL, Johnson delves into her cinematic journey with a refreshing perspective, stating “I’m always open to anything. I don’t discriminate against movie genres when it comes to how I choose things or what I do.”
Although the film did not meet expectations, Johnson willingly embraced the role of Cassandra Webb and found value in the experience. Reflecting on her involvement, she expressed enjoyment in portraying the character and emphasized the lessons she gained from the film.
