New A24 Film Warfare To Begin Production This May

The cast for Alex Garland’s upcoming A24 film Warfare has just been announced, and it is definitely an exciting reveal for fans.

The actors set to join the A24 war film include Charles Melton, Joseph Quinn, Will Poulter, Kit Connor, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, and Cosmo Jarvis. Charles Melton was previously rumored to be joining the cast in January, but that has not been confirmed until now, along with the rest of the cast members. We have not yet had the privilege to see these talents on screen together, so it should be an exciting mix to watch.

Alex Garland will direct alongside Ray Mendoza. They also co-wrote the script together. Garland and Mendoza have recently worked together, with Mendoza serving as the Military Supervisor on another A24 film, Civil War, which will be released in April. The producers will include Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich of DNA, and Peter Rice.

The film will be an ensemble drama piece set during the Iraq War. The plot details are being kept under wraps for now, so hopefully, we will learn more information soon.

Melton is the first to join Warfare. He started in the CW series Riverdale as Reggie Mantle and moved on to his first breakout role in the film May December, where he worked alongside Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. The film earned four Golden Globe nominations and one Academy Award nomination. The actor has a heavy résumé already, with more impressive upcoming projects in the works. He will star alongside Elizabeth Olsen in Love Child and season 2 of Netflix’s Beef with Anne Hathaway, Cailee Spaeny, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Next to appear is Joseph Quinn, most known for his role as Eddie in Stranger Things, earning the attention of hundreds of millions of fans. He also has an exciting new role in the works, where he will star in Marvel’s upcoming film Fantastic Four alongside Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Will Poulter will also join the cast. He is best known for his roles as Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy, Kenny in We’re the Millers, Gally in The Maze Runner, and Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Kit Connor has also gained worldwide recognition for his current role as Nick Nelson in the Netflix series Heartstopper. He can also be seen in the Elton John film Rocketman. 

Actor and musician Cosmo Jarvis, who can be seen in lead roles in Persuasion, Lady Macbeth, and Shōgun, will also join the film. D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, who portrays Bear Smallhill in Reservation Dogs, will round out the cast. Production will begin in the UK in May.
