The Bad Guys 2 Release Date Out Now
The DreamWorks Animation and Universal film, The Bad Guys 2, is coming in the summer of 2025.
In the second part of the series, the main characters are “struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys, when they are pulled out of retirement and forced to do ‘one last job’ by an all-female squad of criminals,” according to the official synopsis.
Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell will return as the beloved Mr. Wolf. The role earned him a nomination at the Black Reel Awards for Outstanding Voice Performance in 2023. Other voice actors in the film include Golden Globe winner Awkwafina as Tarantula, Zazie Beetz as Diane Foxington, Grammy winner Anthony Ramos as Mr. Piranha, and Craig Robinson as Mr. Shark.

Additionally, the first film earned over $250 million internationally. The Bad Guys, which came out in 2022, was a success for Universal and DreamWorks. The public received it well, earning a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 88% Tomatometer score.
On top of that, the picture got a couple of nominations for awards. For example, a nomination for the best-animated picture at the Hollywood Critics Association and the Satellite Awards. The film won the title of Truly Moving Picture award in 2022 at the Heartland Film Festival.
Furthermore, both Pierre Perifel and Damon Ross will return to direct and produce the second film. In addition, Oscar-nominee Daniel Pemberton will compose the music.

The franchise is an adaptation of Aaron Blabey’s New York Times bestselling book series, which has 19 books by the Australian author. Due to the number of books in the series and the size of The Bad Guys universe, Universal and DreamWorks Animation have an opportunity to keep growing.
The Bad Guys 2’s official release date in theaters is August 1, 2025. Further information regarding new characters and voice actors still needs to be provided. In the meantime, the first film is available to stream on Prime Video.
