Euphoria Updates and New Timelines
Will we ever receive season 3 of Euphoria? Director Sam Levinson and HBO are in talks, here is everything need to know about the upcoming season.
There’s been a ton of buzz surrounding season 3 of the HBO hit television series Euphoria lately. Shortly after announcing the beginning of filming, director Sam Levinson and HBO delayed the series, leaving the actors to pursue other roles.
In lieu of the recent news, details have been released about the fate of the series’s main character, Rue, portrayed by Zendaya. According to an article published by Variety, Levinson initially threw out a “somewhat surprising storyline about her [Rue] working as a private detective, which HBO had immediately vetoed.” This could potentially be a callback to some of the earlier episodes in the series, in which the same character poses as a private detective.
When this idea was shut down, Zendaya (who is also an executive producer on the series) stepped in to add some creative ideas of her own. “Among many other ideas for the rewrites, Zendaya had pitched an idea in which Rue, who is now super as a twenty-something young woman, would be a pregnancy surrogate. But insiders say the new scripts simply didn’t feel like the show tonally.” Euphoria is centered around high schoolers, so it makes sense why that idea was denied. However, it would be interesting to picture the characters outside of high school.
With all of these new ideas, some may be wondering if the series will even make it to our screens at all. Not to worry, as according to Variety, a source revealed, “that not only are the show’s cast contracted for a third season, but they’re all truly committed to seeing ‘Euphoria’ – with Levinson – through to the end with a third season, particularly Zendaya, [Sydney] Sweeney, and [Jacob] Elordi.” It’s comforting to know that the series’s team cares just as much about the stories of each character as we do.
As of March 28, nothing else has been released regarding filming or release dates for season 3 of Euphoria. Only time will tell what the season has in store for its viewers. In the meantime, you can catch seasons 1 and 2 of Euphoria on HBO.
