Monopoly Film in the Works With Producer Margot Robbie
Lionsgate has prepared to turn the well-known and loved board game Monopoly into a motion picture. The film will be produced by none other than Margot Robbie, the producer of Barbie.
Following her trip to the plastic, fantasy world of Barbie Land, Margot Robbie will be traveling to the real estate-inspired world of Monopoly. Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap, along with her partners Tom Ackerly and Josie McNamara, are producing a live-action feature film based on the economic-themed board game.

Hasbro Entertainment, the distributor of Monopoly, will also help produce the film. This announcement comes just weeks after it was reported that Robbie will produce a film based on the video game The Sims.
With its purchase of Entertainment One in December 2023, Lionsgate extended its development rights to Monopoly. Available in more than 100 countries, Monopoly has become one of the world’s most popular board game brands since 1935. Players are tasked with staying financially stable while forcing opponents into bankruptcy by buying property, building houses, and charging rent.
Actually not going to mock this because Monopoly was originally created by a woman (Elizabeth Magie) to illustrate how it is impossible for regular people to "win" under capitalism. I'm sure Margot Robbie does her homework and will deliver us a banger. https://t.co/MtsyMVv3h1

Moreover, fans are unsure how Robbie and her company plan to create a three-dimensional world from the two-dimensional board game. However, if Barbie is anything to go by, we can surely hope for the best. LuckyChap also produced the blockbuster Barbie, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2023.
Straying from sharing any details, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson announced the partnership at CinemaCon. Fogelson hinted that LuckyChap has a “clear point of view” on the upcoming Monopoly film.
“They are exceptional producers who choose their projects with great thought and care, and join Monopoly with a clear point of view. We are tremendously excited to be working with the entire LuckyChap team on what we all believe can be their next blockbuster.” Fogelson added.
