On May 1, costars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth debuted in stunning outfits for the Australian premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The duo wore a color combination of outfits that matched the “wasteland” vibes of the film to the original Mad Max film series.
As we wait for the film’s arrival, set to be distributed in theaters only nationwide on May 24, here is what we know and can expect so far from the electrifying prequel.

First, Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth team up under the creative, Academy Award-winning mastermind George Miller. Miller is making his directorial return to the franchise after creating the iconic dystopian Mad Max world more than 30 years ago.
The film now acts as a standalone adrenaline-filled action-adventure film that centers around the origin story of the titular character “Furiosa,” who starred in the multiple award-winning and global smash hit Mad Max: Fury Road.

Miller directed the film, which was also produced by his longtime partner, fellow Oscar-nominated producer Doug Mitchell. Mitchell also worked with Miller on Mad Max: Fury Road under their Australian-based Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner.
Now, here is a sneak peek of the film’s synopsis. The film follows a young Furiosa as the world begins to fall through the cracks, taking her along for the ride. Furiosa is taken from the Green Palace of Many Mothers, falling into the hands of a great Biker Horde.
The Horde is led by the Warlord Dementus, portrayed by Hemsworth. As they begin to sweep through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel, controlled by “The Immortan Joe.” While both tyrants battle for true dominance, Furiosa must survive the various trials and tribulations while trying to return home.
Well, time to get the popcorn popping and ice-cold drinks ready, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is already sounding like another box-office hit, with the potential to be the next blockbuster of the summer and the year.
For other exciting news relating to the film, fans can also expect the film’s presence at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The festival starts May 14, meaning guests can experience the prequel before it officially hits theaters on May 24.

The film’s world premiere is an exhilarating feeling for the cast and crew involved and a bittersweet repeat moment in the franchise’s history. Furiosa will be crashing onto the red carpet just like the predecessor film Mad Max: Fury Road did in 2015.
History is sure to repeat itself in other aspects of the film as well. Fury Road received several Oscar wins for costume design, film editing, and production. Here’s to hoping the prequel film receives the same, or even more accolades this awards season.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premieres nationwide in theaters on May 24. For exclusive access and a preview showing, the film will premiere May 15 at the Cannes Film Festival.
