Fans of Arcane have waited three years to see the continuation of this series. However, a first look reveals that the journey will end sooner than expected.

Yesterday, Netflix unveiled the first look at the second season of Arcane, the Emmy-winning animated series. Based on various aspects of the hit online game “League Of Legends,” this trailer continues the ever-escalating conflict between sisters Violet and Jinx.

Jinx has allied herself with the independent city of Zaun, while Violet is now working for the people of Piltover. Despite that, Violet appears to be on a mission to retrieve her sister from inside Zaun. As revealed early last year, Netflix will release the second season in November of this year.

However, what came as a surprise is that this will also be the final season of Arcane. The first season was released in November of 2021 and was instantly beloved. It holds a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and was the first animated streaming series to win an Emmy. But despite all that, the series will end after two seasons, which came as a surprise to many fans.

Fortunately, based on co-creator Christian Linke’s interview with Variety, this seems to always have been the plan for the series. In addition, Linke has teased multiple other projects coming in the future that will continue the various stories of the “League of Legends” universe.

Arcane stars Ella Purnell(Fallout) as Jinx, and Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld(Hawkeye) as her sister Violet. The series focuses on these two sisters as they navigate the escalating conflict between Piltover and Zaun, and find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict. In addition, Kevin Alejandro(True Blood), Katie Cheung(Harry Potter), Jason Spisak(Star Wars: The Clone Wars), and more star in both seasons.

The series was created by Christian Linke and Alex Lee, who served as writers on many of the episodes. You can watch the trailer for the second and final season of Arcane below.
