The highly anticipated Star Wars series, Andor, is adding a major character from the film Rogue One to its second season.

The Playlist reported yesterday that Ben Mendelson, who portrayed Orsen Krennic in Rogue One, will reprise his role for season 2 of Andor. This news comes despite previous comments from Mendelson that indicated he would not be returning. However, Andor star Diego Luna has also teased the return of major Rogue One characters for the second season.

In Rogue One, Krennic oversees the construction and testing of the Death Star. In addition, the end of season one saw the Death Star being constructed. Therefore, having Krennic return for season 2 is a natural decision.

Andor was first announced in December of 2020. Created by Tony Gilroy(The Bourne Identity), it serves as a prequel to Rogue One and shows how the rebellion against the Empire began. The series stars Diego Luna, Adria Arjona(Hit Man), Stellen Skarsgård(Dune), Genevieve O’Reilly(Ahsoka), and Kyle Soller. The first season, which consists of 12 episodes, premiered in September of 2022 to universal critic and audience acclaim.

But now, the series is preparing to return for its second and final season. Season 2 will take viewers through the remaining time leading up to Cassian Andor’s appearance in Rogue One. In addition, viewers will finally see how Andor meets his droid companion K-2SO, portrayed by Alan Tudyk.

After wrapping production in February of this year, the second season is expected to premiere in 2025. In addition, you can watch the first season of Andor on Disney+ here.
