With a cast of over 500 models, athletes, and performers, the star-studded event was unforgettable from start to finish. The Paris 2024 Olympics are right around the corner, and we couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate in style.

When a surprise musical guest wasn’t performing, a 40-piece orchestra supported the talent. Models strutted, danced, and rode in the finest haute couture throughout the historic plaza. Each decade from the last century was paired with a sport, and the two were celebrated jointly.

The 1920s cycling began with a nod to Coco Chanel, a resident of the Place Vendôme for many years. The show’s opener, Aya Nakamura, dazzled in a chocolate-colored gown by Jean Paul Gaultier, featuring the striking silhouette now synonymous with the designer. The French-Malian singer opened the show with her hit “Fly.”

The 1930s track and field had a fabulous mock race featuring five models in black Balenciaga gowns. One of the contenders was supermodel Alex Consani, undoubtedly sporting one of the night’s best looks. Fans praised the look online.

The 1940s aquatics celebrated the invention of the bikini in 1946 with a charmingly vintage cameo from Sabrina Carpenter

The 1950s horseback riding closed with Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner astride horses dressed by Hermes.

The 1960s fencing showcased recreations of Paco Rabanne’s and André Courrèges’ futuristic designs from the era. Teyana Taylor performed an electrifying dance routine.

The 1970s gymnastics were a bold celebration of color and form, partially inspired by the fashion of Studio 54.

A group of karate and tae kwon do practitioners in their traditional gi, including the French national team, ushered in the 1980s martial arts.

The 1990s football was graced with a surprise performance from Bad Bunny. Vogue shared that his gray pinstripe suit was from Pressiat, delightfully accessorized with red cowboy boots.

Venus and Serena Williams led the 2000s tennis. Vogue reported that Serena wore an Off-White gown, and Venus wore a dress made from recycled tennis bags by French designer Marine Serre. Also in attendance was Casper Rudd, Olympic tennis star and recently revealed Dior ambassador.

The finale, set to a soaring rendition of “Clair de Lune,” gave the audience another chance to appreciate every look. The models from each decade paraded past in order, and the guests, including Emma Chamberlain and John Mulaney, watched the years go by in style.

Another outstanding moment we can’t overlook was brought to us by FKA Twigs, who was glowing in Alexandre Vauthier. Fashion aficionados agreed, sharing their appreciation online.

“If Vogue World: New York was a street fair, and Vogue World: London was a glamorous night at the theater—supporting arts and cultural organizations in London—Paris will be a kind of opening ceremony, one that celebrates 100 years of fashion and sport, as well as this extraordinary city,” stated Vogue Global Editorial Director and Condé Nast Chief Content Officer Anna Wintour.

If that was the event’s goal, they undoubtedly exceeded it with this outstanding spectacle. This event has much to enjoy; we highly recommend watching it firsthand here.

So, who do we have to thank for this glorious performance? “Carine Roitfeld, Ib Kamara, Juan Costa Paz, and Alexandre Samson helmed this year’s fashion events at Vogue World: Paris, with Dame Pat McGrath leading makeup design and world-renowned dancer Parris Goebel overseeing artistic direction and choreography. The globally broadcast livestream was directed for the third time by Sam Wrench,” Vogue revealed.

Thank you on behalf of fashion fans everywhere. We anticipate next year’s festivities with bated breath.
