Hairstylist Cyndia Harvey Unveils New Hair Care Line
Cyndia Harvey, the hairstylist who advocates for underrepresented people in fashion, has released a scalp-focused hair care line, T.H.O.M. The Jamaican-born stylist has an impressive client list that includes Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Schiaparelli, and Simone Rocha.

Harvey, the daughter of a hairstylist in the U.K., shares with Vogue, “I felt I had to work so hard for everything but was feeling very overlooked, this is not a unique story to myself, it’s a universal truth for many Black and brown people—and for many women: You feel you are doing twice the amount as your counterparts.” Such led to the creation of her documentary This Hair of Mine, directed by Akinola Davies Jr.

The movie featured British women from throughout the African diaspora sharing stories of cultural heritage designed by Harvey. The film was received very well from its targeted audience, but some feared the hairstylist would be stuck as a “Black stylist.”
However, Harvey doesn’t see this as bad, as it would later encourage her to create T.H.O.M, which focuses on textured hair. The line is packed with peptides, enzymes, and hydration to promote growth and reinvent Black hair care as a positive experience.
Harvey revealed, “One reason Black women are spending that much is because they are constantly searching for the right products. That’s our main intention, we want you to stop that search.”

Many people don’t understand the extensive amount of time, money, and effort that goes into buying hair products for Black people. Not only are there so few brands to choose from, but many of these products, especially those of quality, cost upwards of $12.
Hairstyles and hair care are a significant part of Black culture and expression. It is excellent to see another stylist use their talent to uplift their community and create a hair care line. So far, T.H.O.M has released a scalp serum.
