Rihanna Returns to Crop Over in Stunning New Look
Rihanna returns to the Barbados Crop Over festival for the first time since 2019 in a custom outfit by Lauren Austin Designs.
Crop Over is a celebration of culture and music. It is a traditional festival that began in Barbados, having had its early beginnings on the sugar cane plantations during slavery dating back 200 years ago. The festival traditionally marked the end of a successful sugar cane harvest, however, it declined alongside the sugar industry and was discontinued in the 1940s. Nevertheless, it was revived in 1974 with added cultural elements, evolving into the bold and vibrant event that now attracts thousands from around the world.
The event is held in the summer and is filled with native music calypso as well as soca. Who better to grace the event than Rihanna who is originally from Saint Michael? Unsurprisingly, the fashion icon and singer has pulled another eye-catching look this year as she’s had great ones in the past.

The Fenty Beauty founder’s looks have always been colorful and adorned with gems as well as feathers. This current look created by Lauren Austin Designs who Rihanna has worked with in the past makes a statement with the gold coloring and crown-like headpiece. The look also shows the sexy nature of her style with the mesh peak-a-boo aspects of the look down to her ankles.

The heels the “Don’t Stop The Music” singer wore were also golden to match the outfit. The key colors reflected in her outfit included maroon and gold. These bold colors complemented her, enhancing the rest of the look. The vibrant feathers—orange, yellow, and magenta—created a daring and alluring juxtaposition.
