Brigitte Calls Me Baby, a Chicago-based alternative group, is on a winning streak. From releasing their debut album, The Future Is Our Way Out, to lighting up Lollapalooza in the heart of their hometown, to all the shows still ahead, we simply can’t get enough.

The increasingly prominent band is comprised of lead singer Wes Leavins, guitarists Jack Fluegel and Trevor Lynch, drummer Jeremy Benshish, and bassist Devin Wessels. This impressive collection of talent has been receiving a ton of radio play and with countless performances on the horizon, we’re looking forward to appreciating everything the new album has to offer.

The band performed a single off their new album, “We Were Never Alive,” on Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 26, electrifying their audience.

“We Were Never Alive” has become a fan favorite, followed closely by “Too Easy,” an evocative, introspective track that considers how the passage of time changes relationships and colors memories. The song has an 80s feel, and whether that’s thanks to the nostalgic lyrics or the new-wave production is for fans to decide.

Leather jackets, sleek electric guitars, silky button-down shirts, and amazing hair contribute to the group’s vintage vibes. The refreshingly retro energy is taken a step further by frontman Leavins’ golden voice, which has been compared to Roy Orbison, a favorite of his. The distinctive, soaring vocals even landed Leavins a role as Elvis Presley in a national tour of Million Dollar Quartet.

Those vocal chops were on full display when Brigitte Calls Me Baby took to the stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago for the first time. The group expressed gratitude towards everyone who attended their two sets, sharing some memories of the experience.

The group’s respect for the Chicago music scene is admirable. They’ve stayed true to their roots, performing a free show at Reckless Records in Wicker Park on August 8.

With over 30 shows on the horizon, including a stint touring with Airborne Toxic Event, the band is quickly making a name for themselves on the alternative scene. Give the new album a listen here.
