Actress Aubrey Plaza joins the Marvel universe for the new miniseries Agatha All Along as Rio Vidal. Although the details of her character have not been disclosed, fans can’t wait to see what she does with the hero.

Her experience portraying a hero dates back to the 2017 series Legion. On Legion, she depicted Lenny Busker, the main villain. In an interview with Gold Derby, she stated, “I wanted to play a villain that you loved or like to hate.”

She quickly switches from her primary medium, comedy, to drama. In the same interview, she mentioned she treated “them both with the same fun.” Her versatility as an actress allowed her to do this again today.

Plaza Is No New Witch

In an interview, with WSJ she revealed that she dabbled in some dark arts. “What’s better than joining in on the ‘witch-witchy worlds of witches'” as Rio Vidal. For the actress, landing the role of Rio Vidal, however, was a bit different than what she had previously done on Legion. Being onset for Agatha was much more “immersive.”

Not only does this world seem immersive for the cast, but for the fans too as this new villain has consumed fan theories. Marvel fans have already begun generating theories about who Rio Vidal truly is; many believe she is possibly a gender-bent Blackheart who first appears in a Marvel comic, Dare Devil #270.

Although just a theory, she feeds into the theories created by the fan base. In an interview for The Upcoming, the actress told them, “I can’t spoil It, but what happens the reveal is pretty, pretty, amazing, and I think for the fans especially they’re going to they’re going to go crazy,” leaving fans on the edge of their seats as to who she truly is.

Even though this is her second time in the Marvel world, it’s safe to say fans have already developed a liking for the character. “That’s what’s fun, the fans and the excitement about the characters. Katherine Hahn warned me; she thought this was no joke. Once you’re on one of these shows, there is such a huge fan base and excitement about it like it’s insane,” she stated.

Agatha All Along is available for streaming on Disney+.
