YG Entertainment announced that the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK will return on tour in 2025. The tour announcement comes after the label also announced that BLACKPINK will release new music since their group album in 2022.

Yang Hyunsuk of YG Entertainment took to YouTube in a four-minute video explaining the plan for next year. Some of the plans included a reunion of BLACKPINK, 2NE1, and the debut of other girl groups.

The group has had significant success since 2016 when their single “Boombayah” hit number 1 on Billboard’s World’s Digital Chart, while also topping charts in the U.S. and U.K. with their group’s album Born Pink back in 2022. In 2022, their last world tour, “Born Pink,” was turned into a documentary, which aired in theaters in July.

The tour had 66 shows, leading to 1.8 million tickets sold worldwide. The group’s success has also led them to headline Coachella in 2023, making the group the first K-pop act to headline a major music festival. However, the group has also pursued successful solo projects.

BLACKPINK member Lisa became the first member of the group to drop music. Lisa would debut her solo project LALISA in 2021 with hit singles “Lalisa” and “Money.” The song “Lalisa” would go on to win MTV’s Video Music Award for best K-pop video in 2022. In June of this year, Lisa dropped her “Rockstar” single with another, “New Woman,” featuring Latin artist Rosalía. As NME News noted, the K-pop singer/rapper would win Best K-pop artist at the 2024 MTV VMAs.

Jisoo would pursue her projects, such as starring in a K-drama series, Snowdrop, and starting her record label. Jennie became the face of an Ad for the South Korean-based beauty company Hera. She released her music in partnership with Columbia Records. Rose signed with the Black Label and released her project, R, in March of 2021 and sometimes releases music on her Instagram.

Despite pursuing their solo projects, BLACKPINK has re-signed with YG Entertainment as a group as of last year but has opted out of the solo contracts with the record label. You can stream the group’s music here.
