Joe Jonas welcomes fans to his latest era with the release of “What This Could Be.” With romantic, poppy vibes in mind, the song will be his first single off his new album Music for People Who Believe in Love.

Last week, Jonas surprised fans by announcing his latest single, “What This Could Be.” After a whirlwind year of reuniting (and touring) with the Jonas Brothers, he’s introducing fans to a new chapter. From silly side missions such as Recess Therapy on Instagram and a humorous TikTok page reminiscent of his Disney days, the singer announced another surprise in addition to his single.

He has always been on the bubbly, romantic side of pop. Ever since his hit song “Cake By The Ocean” with pop group DNCE hit the charts, his songs tend to lean towards the hyper-love pop side. Other songs, such as “Sucker,” give off the same vibe, another hit single performed by him and his brothers. This time around, the question arises if Jonas will stay on that same rhythm of upbeat harmonies and bridges designed for singalongs.

In addition to the new single, the singer also announced the release date of his album will be put on hold. Music For People Who Believe In Love will be his first solo album in a few years, full of unvarnished thoughts and social experiments with Republic Records.

It is seemingly confirmed the pop singer will tap into his upbeat roots while delving into his own eclectic taste. Shimmery pop with influences from garage-rock to ’90s country, all while navigating the hardships accompanied by love and loss.

The outpouring of love from fans on “What This Could Be” has prompted him to release his latest single this Friday, October 4. While fans enjoy the new song, he will add finishing touches to his album after gaining additional inspiration. Although there is no final release date for his solo album, an end-of-year or early next-year release looks like a promising future for fans.

Until then, “What This Could Be” drops on October 4 on all music streaming platforms. To preorder Music For People Who Believe In Love, click here.
