Sabrina Carpenter Shares Hidden Pressures of Her Emerging Fame
Sabrina Carpenter recently appeared on CBS Sunday Morning, highlighting her booming career and personal reflections on music idols like Taylor Swift.
The 25-year-old pop sensation on her “Short n’ Sweet” tour discussed everything from her early influences to the pressures of navigating fame.
Carpenter expressed deep gratitude for Taylor Swift, whom she joined on the Eras Tour as an opening act. She praised Swift as a role model, embodying the grace and composure needed to navigate fame.
In her interview, the pop singer stated, “You just watch [Taylor Swift], like, walk in a room and it’s very easy to understand that she’s so composed. She’s graceful, she’s gracious.”

Carpenter reflected on dealing with fame and what she’s learned from Swift, asserting, “You just kind of have to exist and figure out what you can handle.”
The pop singer has also learned to deal with challenges and redirection throughout her career. The unexpected closure of her Broadway debut in “Mean Girls” due to the pandemic led her to release her hit 2022 album, Emails I Can’t Send. Her tracks from that album, such as “Nonsense” and “Feather,” propelled her to the limelight. She performed these songs while opening for Swift on Saturday Night Live at various music festivals like Coachella and now on her solo tour.
Despite working with producers and co-writers, Carpenter emphasized her active role in creating her music. She claims the biggest misconception many have about her is the lack of effort she puts into writing her songs, “in fact, she wrote or co-wrote all of her recent songs…with her clever lyrics playing everywhere.”
The interview also shed light on her relationship with fellow actor Barry Keoghan, who starred in her music video for “Please Please Please.” The pop sensation described her reasons for casting him in a featured role, “Who’s the greatest actor that I can find for this music video? And he was next to me in a chair…And he was so excited about it…He does like my music a lot.”
