Victoria’s Secret Runway Makes a New Comeback With Tyra Banks, Tyla, Gigi and Bella Hadid
The once nostalgic Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show brought back fan favorites like Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio to the runway and even featured performances by Lisa, Tyla, and Cher.
The first show dates back to 1995, at the New York City Plaza Hotel, introducing mainstream media to something they had never seen. It was the start of a tradition for many years to come. It normalized lingerie amongst women and introduced us to some of the ultimate supermodels—or, should we say, “Angels.”

Angels aren’t your average models; they’ve signed with VS exclusively. Some of the most notable Angels include Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Heidi Klum, and many other gorgeous women. Another unique aspect of the show is the angel wings they wear. Supermodel Banks was the first to don the wings, wearing all-white lingerie, and her wings looked fluffy and pearlescent—just stunning.
However, in 2019, the retailer put the annual spectacle on an indefinite hiatus to improve its image. Victoria’s Secret, and more specifically its Chief Marketing Officer Ed Razek, was caught in a controversy surrounding the brand’s outdated view of “feminine,” which explicitly excluded models of colors, plus-sized models, and transgender models. This essentially was the final straw for the lingerie brand, as they also battled a slew of sexual harassment and bullying allegations, leading to a $90 million rollout of DEI programs to save face.
This was sad news to the models and audience members who tuned in yearly. Angel Shanina Shaik stated in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, “Unfortunately, the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year.”

Finally, after five years, the show announced a comeback. The retailer announced the news via Instagram in September with Angel Candice Swanepoel, who announced their 30-day countdown to the show. As the days passed, more teasers were revealed, getting viewers pumped for the night of October 15.

Since then, VS has posted pictures revealing who will walk the runway. Fans had pleaded for some of the OG Angles to return and they got what they wanted. Supermodel Lima and Ambrosio confirmed their attendance in a cute video blowing kisses.
Yesterday fans live-streamed the show, and it was a breathtaking mix of diversity, glam, runway looks, and musical performances from some very big acts, including Lisa, Tyla, and Cher.

Not only did we see some familiar faces, but new ones as well. Beloved models Alex Consani and Bella Hadid made an iconic appearance, looking beautiful as always. It’s safe to say that both the brand and the models still have it.
