The long-running program, which debuted in 1977 and features women from diverse backgrounds discussing current issues, attracted over 3.14 million viewers during the Vice President’s appearance. This marked the series’ highest viewership since February 15, 2021.

The View saw a notable boost in viewership the entire week following the Vice President’s appearance, drawing in 2.597 million total viewers during the week of October 7. This marks a 12 percent increase from the same period last year when they averaged around 2.316 million viewers.

Additionally, the series recorded its highest weekly viewership in over two and a half years, since the week of March 28, thanks to Vice President Harris’s appearance and the discussions that followed.

Harris took the daytime spotlight to discuss her policies and highlight the contrasts between herself and the Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

“What he does not talk about is you, he does not talk about what your parents need, what your children need, he talks about his needs,” the Vice President stated on the broadcast.

However, in addition to distinguishing herself from her opponent, Harris used the opportunity to announce a new policy proposal, calling for Medicare to cover in-home healthcare services.

“What we will do is allow Medicare to cover in-home health care, because we’re talking about situations where it’s simply about helping an aging parent or individual prepare a meal, put their sweater on,” Harris shared. “It’s about dignity for that person, it’s about their independence. People may experience a decline in some abilities, but their dignity and pride have not declined.”
