Olivia Rodrigo Achieves New Touring Milestone With ‘GUTS World Tour’
Olivia Rodrigo has solidified her status as a powerhouse performer, wrapping up her debut arena tour with record-breaking success.
Rodrigo, recently named Billboard’s Touring Artist of the Year and featured on the cover of their touring issue, now holds the title for the highest-grossing tour of any artist born this century. According to Billboard Boxscore, the numbers speak for themselves.
“The GUTS tour featured more than double the number of dates as her Sour trek while traveling to four continents (South America will become the fifth in March 2025) and grossed $186.6 million, according to Billboard Boxscore — even with its 1.4 million tickets sold at an average price of $128.81,” Billboard stated.
These impressive figures mark a major milestone for the “Drivers License” singer, who initially toured her record-breaking debut album in theaters. At the time, some questioned why she didn’t opt for arenas from the start, but in 2021, she explained that she didn’t want to rush things.
“I don’t think I should skip any steps,” the star told The Los Angeles Times on the decision in 2021.
Although she didn’t want to rush the process, her tour manager told Billboard that, given the overwhelming demand for the GUTS tour, she could have easily filled stadiums this time, if they had chosen to.
However, this time, the pop sensation was fully prepared to take on arenas. Billboard dubbed it the “must-see rock event of the year,” and she specifically wrote her chart-topping album GUTS with a tour in mind.
“I actually made GUTS with the concert in mind, it’s so much fun to play songs that are more driving and heavy. I had a great time performing that aspect of the show every night,” she stated.
Livies were more than proud of the star for the recording-breaking achievement.
