Leighton Meester Shares Her Support for Vice President Kamala Harris
With only one day before the U.S. presidential election, actress Leighton Meester took to Instagram to share her support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
In a series of two photos, one with her wearing a “Kamala” t-shirt and another showing off her “I Voted” sticker, she made it very clear what she deemed important when submitting her ballot.
“I’m proud to vote for Kamala, for progress, inclusion, and equal rights. For my family, and the future of our country and planet. And I’m proud to vote against a hateful, would-be dictator and his enablers, who want to go backwards,” the mother of two wrote.
Her comment section was met with turmoil, with some users writing that she’s voting for the opposite of where her beliefs stand. However, many other users thanked her for being open about her stance.
Despite her low profile following her Gossip Girl days, Meester is no stranger to advocacy and helping others. The actress and her husband, Adam Brody, have partnered with organizations like Feeding America, which aims to ensure everyone in the United States has access to nutritious food. She serves as the organization’s ambassador and teams up to serve meals and raise funds for children who lose access to free or reduced-fare school lunches during the summer months.
In 2023, she worked with GoGo SqueeZ to combat food insecurity for children heading into the new school year. “I’ve been working with Feeding America for a while now through different volunteer opportunities and helping to spread awareness for their amazing cause,” the actress discussed.
Meester falls in a long line of celebrities who’ve endorsed VP Harris. From Sandra Oh to the cast of The Avengers, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and many more, celebrities are looking toward a bright future during the next four years.
