Beloved R&B singer Frank Ocean has decided to make a comeback—but this time, it is not in music. The rapper is rumored to be preparing his first film.

The artist started his career ghostwriting tracks for pop stars like Justin Bieber and Beyoncé. But Ocean rose to fame in 2011 when he released a mixtape of his album Nostalgia, ULTRA.

However, it was one of the songs on his debut album, Novacane, that helped him quickly gain recognition. Novacane even made it on the US Billboard Hot 100. The album’s release marked a new era for Ocean, and he began to skyrocket in popularity. He then created other hits with artists such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Kanye West.

Fans quickly fell in love with Ocean’s unique style, but at the peak of his career, he disappeared. In 2020, he left fans with two last songs, “Cayendo” and “Dear April.” Since then, the rapper hasn’t revealed much about any future music plans, despite this, many listeners were hopeful for a surprise appearance in Tyler, the Creators’ new album Chromakopia.

Although we do not know precisely what this entails, this isn’t the first time he’s worked on a film. In 2016, the artist released a self-directed visual album, Endless. Not only that, he also participated in writing the forward for the A24 Oscar award-winning film Moonlight.
