SZA Teases New Album Lana With Video Snippet Starring Ben Stiller
Grammy award-winning artist SZA teases her upcoming album, Lana, with a video snippet starring actor Ben Stiller. Lana will be released on Friday, December 20.
The teaser, posted on Monday, to the “The Weekend” singer’s social media accounts, features Stiller behind the wheel of a car on a rainy night, lip-syncing to the lyrics of SZA’s new track, “Drive.” As a devoted Ben Stiller fan, the R&B collaborated with the actor to announce her latest album. This isn’t Stiller’s first appearance in a music video; he also made a cameo in Jack Johnson’s “Taylor” music video back in 2003.
The artist‘s admiration for Stiller stems from her love for the psychological thriller Severance, which he directs and executive produces for Apple TV+. In 2022, she endorsed the series and continued her support this year, tweeting her demand for a new season. This led to a playful exchange between the two on the social media platform X.
Season two of Severance is currently in production.

In the lead-up to Lana, the artist has been dropping a series of teasers. Last week, she posted a quirky video on social media, featuring herself by a creek pulling down her baggy pants to pee while one of the album tracks played in the background. As she wipes herself with tissue, the album title Lana appears on the screen.
The album has been in development for two years, following the release of her critically acclaimed SOS in 2022. SOS debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart for 10 consecutive weeks, becoming the first R&B album by a woman to achieve this milestone. Lana is described as a deluxe version of SOS, combining outtakes (some of which were leaked) with fresh tracks.
SZA’s Lana release coincides with the announcement of her upcoming Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar in April 2025. The North American tour kicks off on April 19, covering major cities in the U.S. and Canada before concluding on June 18 in Washington, D.C.
Fans can look forward to the “Drive” music video dropping simultaneously with Lana on Friday, December 20.
