Sarah Hyland is ready to step into the glamorous world of New York’s elite as she joins the cast of The Great Gatsby on Broadway. The actress, best known for her role as Hailey Dunphy on ABC’s Modern Family, will portray the iconic Daisy Buchanan in the musical adaptation.

Hyland, 34, will take over the role on February 10, following Eva Noblezada, who originated the part. She will share the stage with Ryan McCartan, who will portray the mysterious and wealthy Jay Gatsby, replacing Jeremy Jordan, who will take his final bow on January 19.

The actress is no stranger to the Great White Way. She made her debut in 2006 with Grey Gardens and returned earlier this year for an off-Broadway stint in Little Shop of Horrors alongside Andrew Barth Feldman. The production, which won a Tony Award for Best Costume Design, further solidified Hyland’s place in the Broadway scene. Now, she’s stepping into a role that’s both iconic and emotionally complex.

The musical, which opened in April of this year, is an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel. The story centers around the enigmatic Jay Gatsby, who throws extravagant parties in hopes of reuniting with his lost love, Daisy Buchanan, now married to the wealthy but unfaithful Tom Buchanan. The 2013 film adaptation of the novel, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan, was a visual spectacle that earned two Academy Awards for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

As the centennial of The Great Gatsby approaches in January 2025, Broadway will celebrate with a special performance marking the passing of the torch from Noblezada and Jordan to Hyland and McCartan.
