Jaime Lee Curtis and her family have pledged to donate $1 million to communities impacted by the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. This came one day after the initial wildfires began.

The actress shared the pledge on Instagram last Thursday. The caption read, “My husband and I and our children have pledged $1 million from our Family Foundation to start a fund of support for our great city and state and the great people who live and love there.”

Curtis, a longtime resident of the Los Angeles region, is one of many celebrities affected by the wildfires. Like others, she evacuated her home in the Palisades area. Curtis has been one of the most outspoken celebrities regarding the situation, posting updates on the fire and promoting relief funds on her Instagram stories.

The actress appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the following night, where she mentioned the fires and the impact they had on her life.

“This is literally where I live. Everything. The market I shop in, the schools my kids go to. Many, many, many, many, many friends now have lost their homes. It’s a really awful situation,” she told Fallon.

Along with the personal anecdote, the actress brought awareness of different ways of helping Californians in need.

“If you know anybody on the West Coast or not, the American Red Cross, support them. They will come in and help people. Do anything you can, anything in your community to help people,” she informed the audience.

As of now, the fires continue to burn. Over 135,000 residents have been asked to leave under evacuation orders. The actress stated she is in talks with California government officials to provide resources to those in need.

Others have also pledged to provide relief to the Los Angeles community suffering from the fire. The NFL announced on X that it will be contributing $5 million to supporting the community, with contributions being led by the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams.

Curtis recently updated her Instagram profile picture to a white background that reads “I love LA.” She continues to provide updates as the fire goes on.
