Nina Dobrev Talks About ‘Survivor’s Guilt’ After New L.A. Wildfires
On January 18, Nina Dobrev took to Instagram to share an emotional post about her experience evacuating her home during the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. The Vampire Diaries star revealed that she had to leave her home on January 9 as the fires threatened neighborhoods across the city.
“It’s been such a tragic time in Los Angeles recently, I have been absolutely sick to my stomach with all the destruction and devastation that these fires have caused and displaced so many families,” the actress expressed in her post. “I don’t know about you but I’ve been feeling survivor’s guilt. Our home, although close to the fires, thankfully made it, but so many others were not so lucky.”
Dobrev urged her followers to step in and help those affected by donating to families in need. She directed them to a spreadsheet linked in her Instagram bio, which compiles GoFundMe pages for fire victims. For her birthday on January 9, the star personally contributed to these fundraisers and encouraged her fans to do the same, emphasizing that even small donations could make a big difference.
“What people really need right now is financial aid to help them get back on their feet and start rebuilding their lives and homes,” she stated.
The actress also highlighted the struggles many victims are facing beyond the physical loss of their homes, including being dropped by their insurance companies. “They’ve lost everything, and my heart breaks into a million pieces for them,” Dobrev shared
Alongside her message, the star posted photos of the devastation caused by the wildfires, offering her followers a glimpse into the harsh realities many are facing.
In her concluding remarks, Dobrev expressed her heartfelt sympathy for those affected. “My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Thank you for your support always, but especially now. The road to rebuilding and healing for so many families who have lost everything starts now, and it will be a long one…”
