iHeartRadio History

The iHeartRadio Awards has been a staple of the music industry for decades. The event was founded in 2014 by iHeartRadio to recognize the most popular artists and music over the past year. Winners are chosen by cumulative performance data. The public is still allowed to vote, but the data comes into play alongside the votes. iHeartRadio Awards was first held on May 1st, 2014 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and aired on NBC rather than Fox.

In the wake of the devastating wildfires tearing through Los Angeles currently, iHeartRadio has announced they will be helping aid the resilience of Los Angeles by donating proceeds to FireAide. The 2025 Award Show will not only recognize artists but also pay tribute to the fans who have kept this show running for 11 years.
