Taylor Swift Eras Tour Crowned New ‘Tour of the Century’

Taylor Swift has, yet again, made history and set new standards for the music industry. It was announced Wednesday that “The Eras Tour” will be named “Tour of the Century” at this year’s iHeartRadio Awards in March.
The singer first announced her Eras Tour in 2022. The show would span her entire career, featuring performances of songs from each of her 10 studio albums. As this would be Taylor Swift’s first world tour in four years, her announcement caused a frenzy among fans. Fans had the option to apply for pre-sale tickets, but even those fortunate enough to receive that opportunity were not guaranteed a spot in her crowd.
This tour was highly anticipated for good reason. Swift had released four brand new albums and two re-recorded albums since her previous tour, meaning fans had been waiting a long time to hear some of their new favorites played live. The first show took place in Arizona on March 17, 2023. It spanned three hours and featured over 40 songs and roughly 16 outfit changes. From that point on, the tour was considered a cultural phenomenon.
Attendees of The Eras Tour were amazed by the production, impressive sets, sparkling costumes, and Swift’s captivating way of storytelling through song. This performance was unlike anything most fans had ever seen before. Along with her permanent setlist, the star included two acoustic “surprise songs” at each show, a tradition that she has long been upholding at her concerts. By including unique acoustic sets, she made each crowd feel special and every show memorable. Along the way, the singer added several tour dates for a total of 149 concerts, spanning five continents and 51 cities worldwide.

With its record-breaking success, The Eras Tour has forever redefined live music. In addition to its economic impact, the tour will maintain a significant effect on pop culture for years to come. With her Eras tour, Taylor Swift was able to inspire and set a precedent for future events, as well as cement her title as a generational icon. The Eras Tour’s unparalleled production and artistry make it an obvious choice for iHeartRadio’s “Tour of the Century” Award.
