2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards: What Happened
Like many broadcasted awards ceremonies, the thirty-first annual Screen Actors Guild Awards produced several memorable moments from our favorite actors and celebrities. Whether you tuned in or missed it, here are some of the highlights from Sunday night.
During the night’s traditional “I Am an Actor” opening segment, Harrison Ford was caught eating behind his Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams, who was speaking at the time.
Williams began her speech with, “Los Angeles is known as the city of dreams and sure enough all of my dreams have come true here.” She then breaks into laughter as she realizes Ford, seated behind her at their table, could be seen on camera putting a piece of food into his mouth and then retracting it as he noticed he was in the frame.
She yelled, “I told him to turn away! Don’t look!” as he scooches his chair to face away from the camera. The Shrine Auditorium then filled with laughter following this co-star exchange.

This year’s host Kristen Bell then commenced the night by singing a parody of “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” from her film Frozen. She starts by expressing, “This is a night to honor the actors’ journey, which is long and it can be arduous. And it leads you to the question… Do you wanna be an actor?” as the song starts playing in the background.
In Anna-like fashion, she has fun while singing her heart out. She continues, “Let’s get your foot inside the door / Can you scream a lot on Halloween?” when a clip of Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween appears on the screen. “Or be a beauty queen,” Bell sings alongside a picture of Eva Longoria, “Or hug a purple dinosaur,” with a clip of young Selena Gomez on Barney & Friends.
She continues through the song, making a trip down Hollywood’s memory lane, highlighting several actors’ first projects.

But what would be an awards show without funny acceptance speeches? Kieran Culkin pokes fun at Adrien Brody in his acceptance speech for Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in A Real Pain. Culkin sets down the award on a podium noting, “I don’t think there’s any way I can hold this for 45 seconds, which is the allotted time Adrien Brody. 45 seconds.”
“There was no reason to take that shot,” Culkin continues. “I love you. It’s a joke. You take your time. Lord knows I will because I didn’t think of anything,” Culkin speaks to Brody who is seen on camera laughing.

However, the acceptance speech getting all the buzz is Timothée Chalamet’s. Chalamet became the youngest nominee to win Best Actor at the SAG awards for his work in A Complete Unknown. He starts by admitting, “I was not expecting this at all. Truly… I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much this means to me, but the truth is this was five and a half years of my life. I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist, Mr. Bob Dylan. A true American hero. And it was the honor of a lifetime playing him.”
“And I can’t downplay the significance of this award, because it means the most to me,” he adds. “And I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis, as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps. And I want to be up there.”
From Kristen Bell’s, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” parody to Timothée Chalamet’s “I want to be one of the greats” speech, the thirty-first Screen Actors Guild Awards was a memorable one.
