Warner Bros. Japan posted a new trailer on April 12, announcing Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: (JJBA) Steel Ball Run is in production.

The teaser shows moments and a timeline from the seasons prior to the announcement of the new season. Fans are then given a brief glimpse at the animation style and characters before being greeted by the title in blue and red letters.

Even though a release date has yet to be announced, fans have expressed their thoughts on the upcoming season. “Steel Ball Run anime is finally confirmed omg,” one wrote, while another shared, “Steel Ball Run anime confirmed millions must scream with joy.”

What is Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run?

Steel Ball Run is the highly coveted seventh part in the JJBA manga series. The latest installment will be the anime’s sixth season following season five’s conclusion in December 2022. Set in an alternate universe in 1890, the story follows a paraplegic former jockey, Johnny Joestar, and a master of the mystical spin technique, Gyro Zeppeli.

The tandem participates in a cross-country Steel Ball Run race and gradually exposes the dark intentions of the event’s sponsor. Concept art for both characters was shown during the teaser, and fans are very excited for what is to come since both look identical to their manga versions.

The new installment will also feature characters the duo encounters along their journey, including Funny Valentine, Diego Brando, Lucy Steel, Pocoloco, Wekapipo, Mountain Tim, Steven Steel, Sandman, and Hot Pants. Fans consider this one of the series’ best parts because it develops the themes of redemption and friendship through the development of Joestar and Zeppeli’s bond.

Another overarching theme the story focuses on is how the characters learn to recognize and overcome their faults to become better people. In Joestar’s case, he redefines himself by pursuing personal growth, while Zeppeli moves past his family’s morals and fights for a cause greater than himself. This leads to the climax, where both characters face off against Valentine in an all-out brawl.
