The Summer I Turned Pretty Set to Conclude With New Prime Video Film

Jenny Han wasn’t lying when she wrote, “We’ll always have summer.” The Summer I Turned Pretty is set to conclude with a Prime Video film, even though last night’s episode was billed as the series finale.

Although Belly ultimately chose Conrad in the end (and in every universe), the absence of the book’s epilogue scenes left the story feeling unfinished. For now, details about the film remain under wraps, but fans can expect it to pick up where the series finale left off.

Jenny Han, author of the books and writer/executive producer of the series, will also return to pen the feature film script.

She stated, “There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”

Given the series’s whopping 25 million viewers within its first seven days of its season 3 premiere, the demand for a feature film continuation comes as no surprise.

In fact, fans were curious as the final episode concludes with a note from Han herself thanking the fans for allowing her to share her story and making it the journey of the summer. The author, notorious for her easter egg, ended the note with, “Maybe we’ll meet again in Cousins one summer. Until then –”
