Living Proof Releases New Dry Shampoo, Fixing Everything We Hate About the Hair Staple

Dry shampoo was invented to help your hair look and feel its best between washes — whether you’re fresh out of a hot Pilates class, rushing through a hectic day at work, or simply trying to squeeze in one more day before your next blowout. But even the most reliable formulas can come with their own set of frustrations, from visible residue to hair that doesn’t quite feel clean.

Now, Living Proof is tackling those common complaints with its latest launch, Perfect Hair Day Sheer Clean Dry Shampoo Mist, a non-aerosol formula designed to cleanse hair while leaving behind an invisible finish and weightless feel.

“Creating a non-aerosol solution that delivers the high-performance clean consumers have come to expect from Living Proof, while achieving a truly invisible finish, was an incredibly complex technical challenge,” Ron McLaughlin, chief R&D officer at Living Proof, discussed in a statement.

The result is a dry shampoo that’s meant to do more than simply disguise greasy roots. According to the brand, Sheer Clean provides a freshly washed, residue-free look without the heavy buildup that can sometimes accompany dry shampoo. The biggest catch? A 100% invisible finish and 100% dark-hair-approved formula.

According to Living Proof, there was plenty of testing behind the new formula. The brand stated its research and development team completed 884 performance tests, 314 experiments, 146 prototypes, and explored more than 30 pump options while developing the product.

Living Proof is putting its “100% invisible finish” promise to the test in the middle of NYC. The brand is bringing a larger-than-life installation to Union Square, where consumers can experience the new mist and see for themselves whether it really leaves behind no visible white cast.
