GLITTER: What’s it like having a legendary rocker as your dad?
MIA: I always find it funny when I get asked this question because to me, he’s just my dad. My silly and embarrassing dad. Although, it has its perks. As I have a pretty great guitar teacher…for free!
GLITTER: What has been your favorite role to play so far?
MIA: That’s tough because I love many different aspects of every role I have played. I loved my slo-mo walk in G.B.F. It’s every actresses dream to have a slomo walk. I loved shooting in New Orleans for a month and meeting the most amazing people when I played Mary Clear in That’s What I am. Plus, I LOVE period pieces and I got to wear the coolest clothes from the 60’s. I loved training for my role on Make It or Break it, as a gymnast, for two weeks to at least try and look like I knew what I was doing. But nothing beats acting alongside the improv queen, Kristen Wiig.
GLITTER: Do you prefer scripted writing or improv more?
MIA: I love both, but for different reasons. I love scripted, as I find it challenging at times to put myself in the character’s shoes and I love a challenge. Although, I live for improv and have been obsessed with it ever since I took a summer course at Second City in Los Angeles. I love that I have no boundaries and that I’m able to be the complete version of what I interpret a character to be.
GLITTER: What was it like working with Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids?
MIA: Like a dream. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be able to act alongside the queen of improv. I remember getting the call that I had booked the job and feeling instantly terrified. I kept asking myself… am I even funny? I tried not to think about it for the two weeks I had before I went to shoot. I was so nervous to meet her, but the second she came over to me, gave me a huge hug and a reassuring smile, I was instantly at ease. At first she felt so bad for saying all these horrible things to me, but then we did a take where I told her she had saggy boobs, she didn’t feel so bad anymore. I honestly had the time of my life, and I loved that Kristen and Paul Feig, Bridesmaids amazing director, didn’t make me hold back. It was simply a dream come true.
GLITTER: Do you have a secret crush on anyone?
MIA: Hmm… if I told you it wouldn’t really be a secret anymore would it? Although, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ryan Gosling aren’t too hard on the eyes.
GLITTER: Will you be college bound soon?
MIA: Yes! I am so excited that I will be attending Chapman University in the fall. Staying close to home so I can continue my acting career.
GLITTER: What are you afraid of?
MIA: I’m deathly afraid of bees. Although, I would never kill one as they are vital to us living on this planet!
GLITTER: Who is your biggest inspiration?
MIA: That’s a tough question as not just one person has really inspired me, but multiple performances. My favorite movie is Almost Famous and Kate Hudson was just phenomenal in it. I also love how natural Jennifer Lawrence is in her acting. I hope I can accomplish that sense of naturalness in my future roles. Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett are sensational in every role and never fail to inspire me. I just saw Blue Jasmine by Woody Allen and was blown away by Blanchett’s performance.
GLITTER: If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?
MIA: There are just so many I want to work with in the future. I have an obsession with Amy Adams right now because she is one of the most versatile actresses of our time. She is able to transform into a live action Disney princess and sing beautifully in Enchanted, able to play such an enlightening voice of wisdom in Her, and able to flawlessly double cross Bradley Cooper while wearing questionably yet fabulous low cut dresses in American Hustle. I feel like she is able to be anyone or anything and I would learn so much from her just by watching her act.
MIA: I would have dinner with my grandparents from my dad’s side and my grandfather from my mother’s side as they have all passed and I never got to know them as much as I wanted. I’d love to ask them all sorts of questions about their lives and what it was like growing up in that time period. Although I feel like they are always watching me, I’d also love to ask them if I’m making them proud.
GLITTER: What was the first song that you learned to play on the guitar?
MIA: “Blackbird,” by The Beatles. When I was about eleven, my undying obsession with The Beatles began.
GLITTER: Have you ever collaborated on anything musically with your dad? If not, would you like to?
MIA: I never have as I have been focusing more on acting, but I would love to in the near future! Although, I wouldn’t want to show him up. 😉
GLITTER: What song is on rotation on your iPod right now?
MIA: I love Cherub’s song, “Doses and Mimosa’s,” and I have Pharell’s new album on repeat!
GLITTER: What advice do you have for people who want to join show business?
MIA: Get ready for a wild ride. At times it can be really disappointing because of all the rejection, but it’s more than worth it if you know you could never do anything else.
GLITTER: What are you working on next?
MIA: I just had the pleasure of working with Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon on the film, Tammy, which comes out July 2! I can’t give much away, but let’s just say I’m a little more than Melissa and Susan could handle! It’s a hilarious film and everyone must go see it!
GLITTER: How can people follow you through social media?
MIA: I have a twitter @MiaRFrampton, and I will soon have a professional Instagram!
