Interview with Emilia McCarthy of Zapped

Glitter sat down with Emilia McCarthy to talk about what it’s been like growing up in the acting business, what it was like to work on the set of Zapped, who her favorite co-stars have been, what she’s doing this summer, and her secret crush. Did you know she’s fluent in three languages? We didn’t. Read on to find out more about this talented actress.
GLITTER: Can you tell us how you started in acting?
EMILIA: No lie, I woke up one morning and told my parents I wanted to be an actress. We literally just got in my dad’s car to find an agent and, since then, that has been my goal in everything I do in my life and it brings me happiness to know I’m pursuing my passion.
GLITTER: What did you start first: acting or dancing?
EMILIA: I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember; for as long as I’ve been walking. I found my passion for acting when I was about seven and haven’t thought of anything else since.
GLITTER: Who has been your favorite co-star so far and why?
EMILIA: I’ve worked with Yani Gellman from Pretty Little Liars and Paolo from The Lizzie McGuire Movie (my all time favorite childhood movie) on an episode of the CW’s Beauty and the Beast, and I confessed my love for him at 3 a.m. He was really gracious about it. I was like half asleep and wasn’t really aware of what I was saying, so I probably sounded a bit crazy. Thank god he’s a nice person.
GLITTER: What was it like working with Zendaya on the DCOM, Zapped?
EMILIA: My experience on set of this movie was, hands down, the most fun I have ever had on set. Every single person was such a pleasure to work with and I would look forward to getting to set and seeing everyone every morning. Zendaya is super sweet and chill, the amount of times we would crack up in the middle of a scene is endless. I had a blast spending time on and off set doing fun stuff with all the cast members! Love my Zapped family!
GLITTER: What has been your favorite role to play?
EMILIA: I think Taylor from Zapped was so fun to play because she is so opposite to who I am. Letting my inner diva out was fun; every scene was hilarious. The best part of acting is acting, and we had a great time doing it.
GLITTER: Is it true that you’re fluent in three languages?
EMILIA: It’s true! My mom is from Mexico so I’ve always spoken Spanish with her, and I’ve always gone to a French immersion school, which has helped me learn French.
GLITTER: Do you have a secret crush?
EMILIA: I wouldn’t be very good at keeping secrets if I told you now would I? 😉
GLITTER: If you weren’t acting, what would you be doing instead and why?
EMILIA: If I weren’t acting, I would definitely be focusing on my dancing more, and putting school and dance as my main priorities.
GLITTER: If you could collaborate with anyone would it be and why?
EMILIA: If I could collaborate with anyone it would be Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. They’re both from my same hometown of London, Ontario, so it would just be meant to be!
GLITTER: What are your plans for this summer?
EMILIA: My summer consists of working on a very exciting new project! More news to come!
GLITTER: Can you tell us something that most people don’t know about you?
EMILIA: Most people don’t know that I really don’t like cake. Don’t judge. I don’t know why I don’t either.
