The New Movie Everyone’s Talking About
“You can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.” – R.J. Palacio‘Wonder’ is the new movie people can’t wait to see.
‘Wonder’ was originally a children’s novel written by Raquel Jaramillo (R.J. Palacio). The movie tells an inspiring and heartwarming story about a young boy, August Pullman, (played by Rooms Jacob Tremblay) who suffers from facial birth defects and enters fifth grade at a mainstream elementary school for the first time.
This heart-wrenching story came after Palacio was waiting in line with her then three-year-old son, where he noticed a girl with facial deformations. She feared her son would react badly, so she attempted to remove him from the situation so he wouldn’t worsen the situation.
The title, ‘Wonder’ came from Natalie Merchant’s song “Wonder”. This made Palacio realize that the incident she encountered could teach society a valuable lesson.
While the movie has gotten a lot of publicity, with stars like Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson also being involved in the film, sadly you’re going to have to wait till November 17, 2017, for its release in theaters.
