Britney Young Wants To Be Known For Her Talent
Have you watched Netflix’s newly released show, Glow?
Although it’ slightly more underrated than other Netflix originals, it’s been commended for various reasons since it’s release on June 23rd. Not only is it inclusive of all kinds of ethnic backgrounds, but it’s also brought about many actresses of all different shapes and sizes. The show’s empowering, feminist driven plot follows the competitive world of women wrestling.
Britney Young, who plays the much beloved Carmen Wade, recently sat down with BuzzFeed News, to discuss what it was like to work on Glow. Although Young had experienced her fair share of body shaming in the past, she never let it get the best of her. As an actress on Glow, she was able to truly showcase her talents rather than being outcast as the stereotypical big girl:
“I always go out for the bully or the mean girl: typical plus-size roles.”
It looks like Young has taken the experience that she’s had on Glow to let others know that she will not let weight define her abilities as an actress or dictate who she truly is as a person.
