Interview with Jackson Harris
Glitter recently sat down with singer/songwriter, Jackson Harris to talk about opening up for Cody Simpson, his not-so-secret crushes, the advice he would’ve given his teen self, and the charities he’s involved with. In addition to opening up for Cody Simpson, he’s also opened up for Cher Lloyd and Fifth Harmony. He’s also toured with R5 and up-and-coming act Before you Exit, amongst others. He has worked with many notable talents both within his music videos and in the studio, such as Vita Chambers (Universal Republic), Judah Friedlander (30 Rock) and Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars). His single, “Life Through a Lens,” was featured as the intro in videos for YouTube sensation The Shaytards, who have over 1 billion YouTube views on their channel and 2.6 million subscribers. Read on to find out more about this extremely talented singer!
GLITTER: Is it true that you were always immersed in the arts from a young age?
JACKSON: Yes! I was lucky enough to have a mother who loved when I was making noise or turning the volume up on my headphones. She exposed me to a lot of different music and art as kid so I grew up loving films, and photography, fine art, music, everything!
GLITTER: How old were you when you wrote your first song?
JACKSON: I believe I was about 13/14 and I doubt it was any good. It was most likely about a girl. 🙂
GLITTER: How do you create your lyrics? Do you pull inspiration from anything in particular?
JACKSON: I pull inspiration from my own experiences in my life. I want to tell the stories in my life and share them in the music with anyone and everyone who wants to hear.
GLITTER: What was it like to be the opener for Cody Simpson? Are you opening up for him again?
JACKSON: Opening up for Cody for was an amazing experience. We got to travel Europe all summer and play shows for thousands of people. We became good friends and have mutual respect for each other and music in general . His team is also awesome and have always been so supportive and welcoming. And YES I’ll be opening up for Cody this spring for 22 shows across Europe, starting April 20th!
GLITTER: What is your favorite song off of your most recent album, Sharks & Vampires?
JACKSON: That’s a difficult question but I still think Miss Me is the most honest song I’ve written, and it truly helped me get through a tough break up.

GLITTER: Tell us more about your new song, “Fight No More.” What inspired those lyrics?
JACKSON: I was inspired by people always throwing up these walls to be loved. It’s that feeling of being a relationship and just wanting to say I’m not here to fight you, or hurt you, I just want to love you.
GLITTER: Do you think your music/sound has evolved from when you first started singing?
JACKSON: Absolutely! I’ve grown and evolved as a person, so it is only natural that my music and my art does the same thing. I’ve been through some great times and some rough ones, so there are new stories to tell and new emotions to explore.
GLITTER: Who is your dream collaboration with?
JACKSON: Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic since he is one of my favorite producers and songwriters, Max Martin, because his song writing is unmatched, and then, of course. John Mayer!
GLITTER: Who inspires you?
JACKSON: Life, love, then struggles we go through on our day to day routines. Movies, art, beauty…anything that emotionally connects with me ends up inspiring me in some way or another. Also the team I have around me that has supported me all this time is also incredibly inspiring
GLITTER: If you could tell your teen self any piece of advice, what would it be?
JACKSON: Relax…Have Fun…Keep playing guitar and piano…And everything is gonna be OK…
GLITTER: Are you involved with any charities?
JACKSON: Of Course! I’ve done a lot of work with Musicians on Call, The Covenant House, Lighthouse Foundation among many others…I think some of my fondest memories of making and performing music have been from these experiences with incredible foundation and organizations
GLITTER: Do you have anything your fans might not know about you?
JACKSON: When I am hungry, I can eat a whole large pizza all by myself.
GLITTER: Secret crush?
JACKSON: My crush is never a secret since I’m kind of an open book, but there are countless beautiful and talented women out there right now! I love Emma Watson, Jennifer Lawrence, Bella Hadid, Meghan Camarena, and Cara Delevingne.
GLITTER: Any new projects in the works that you can tell us about?
JACKSON: Yes! I’ve been writing some great new original music that will be coming out all throughout the year. I wanted to be able to release new music every few weeks, instead of waiting while these songs sit on a shelf. I want content to be out there for everyone to enjoy.
GLITTER: How can fans follow you?
JACKSON: Instagram (@jacksonharris), Twitter (@jackson_harris), Facebook, YouTube…..All that good stuff!
