Zooey Deschanel on Reducing Plastic to Help the Planet

Zooey Deschanel has been speaking out more than ever regarding the impact plastic is having on the planet.

Deschanel has paired up with National Geographic to raise awareness about plastic waste that goes into our world’s oceans. Everyone knows that plastic waste is a serious problem, but a lot of don’t do anything to make a change.

Luckily, there are a lot of easy change we can make. For example, get reusable bags for your groceries, carry a reusable water bottle around with you, and most importantly encourage others to do the same! Deschanel lists ways these changes will help marine life, marine eco-systems, and the overall health of the planet by reducing the amount of plastic we use and throw away.

Known for her quirkiness, her latest post suggested using pasta straws rather than plastic straws.  They would be single use, just like plastic straws, but pasta is biodegradable while plastic is not. Everyone can learn more to reduce their use of plastics and take the plastic pledge here.
