Danielle Brooks Shares a Beautiful, Emotionally Honest Video About Body Confidence via ‘Shape Magazine’
Danielle Brooks just opened up on Shape about body positivity and how it feels to be a role model—proving that strength and confidence are not mutually exclusive from the willingness to be vulnerable. The Orange Is the New Black actress and singer said that being on the digital cover of Shape was a milestone because of all the work she has put into building her self-esteem. She’s about to be a mother, too, and she wants to show her child that they can be confident in who they are.
Danielle shared a beautiful video from Shape where she speaks about her journey and desire to be understood. She sheds a couple of tears and allows herself to be raw, authentic—and strong.
“I feel like the world has built these invisible bullets to bully us in telling us who we’re supposed to be and what we’re supposed to look like. And I’ve always had this desire to prove people wrong—to say that this body that I’m in is enough,” Danielle said in the video.
Danielle is glowing and looks absolutely stunning on the cover. Uzo Aduba, Rapsody, and Nafessa Williams were just a few of the long list of other powerful women who commented on her Instagram posts. Read her entire interview with Shape HERE.
