Avril discussed her new album and upcoming tour.

Pop-punk queen, Avril Lavigne, sat down with Zach Sang on the Zach Sang Show to share details about her newest album and upcoming 2019 “Head Above Water” tour. Avril originally broke out into the music scene with many hits, including “Complicated”, Sk8er Boi, “I’m With You”, “Happy Ending”, and “Girlfriend”. Ever since her career took off, Avril released 5 albums and grew a very large and strong fan base. Creating music came to a sudden halt in 2014, when Avril was diagnosed with Lyme Disease.

She explained on the Zach Sang Show about how she was stuck in bed for two years and how she was at risk of dying. While trying to overcome this difficult time in her life, songwriting is what gave Avril hope, strength, and inspiration. Avril states in the interview, “Writing music is a magical experience”. “Head Above Water” was one of the first songs written and the official title for her new sixth studio album. Avril wrote this song at her lowest point and she explains that she feels that “Head Above Water” will hit home with her fans and help them overcome hard times in their life, such as anxiety, depression, or other rigorous obstacles. The other leading singles from the album include, “I Fell In Love With the Devil”, “It Was In Me”, and “Dumb Blonde” feat. Nicki Minaj.

Avril Lavigne also announced her upcoming fall tour for “Head Above Water” that starts in September. In the interview with Zach, she revealed that she hasn’t been on tour in 5 years and that she’s really excited to begin the tour. Many different locations will be toured, such as Washington, California, New York, Pennsylvania, and more. You can purchase your tickets for the “Head Above Water” tour here.
